RPNM: Democrats Attack Gregg Hull Over Trump Donors While Haaland Takes Thousands From the Same Networks
October 9, 2026
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Republican Party of New Mexico today called out the Democratic Party of New Mexico for attacking Republican gubernatorial nominee Gregg Hull over approximately $400,000 raised from donors who have also supported President Donald Trump, while ignoring campaign contributions flowing to Deb Haaland from many of the very same donor and employer networks.
According to an analysis of campaign contribution records, Haaland has received $179,734 from donors associated with 33 employers whose employees also contributed to President Trump. Donors associated with those same employers gave approximately $292,427 to Trump.
The overlap is especially significant among donors connected to the University of New Mexico and Presbyterian, which account for roughly $109,000 of Haaland’s contributions within the analyzed employer group.
“The Democratic Party of New Mexico wants voters to believe that accepting a contribution from someone who has supported Donald Trump is somehow disqualifying — unless, apparently, the money goes to Deb Haaland,” said RPNM 2nd Vice Chair Rachel Martinez. “New Mexicans can see the hypocrisy.”
The criticism comes as Haaland recently received the endorsement of former President Barack Obama while continuing to face New Mexican criticism over her refusal to debate Gregg Hull before voters began casting ballots.
“If Deb Haaland is confident in her record and her plans for New Mexico, she should stand on a debate stage and defend them,” Martinez said. “Instead, her campaign appears increasingly dependent on national Democratic endorsements, major corporate interests and political allies to make the case for her.”
RPNM also pointed to Haaland’s political positioning surrounding major corporate projects and donors, including interests associated with Oracle and Clayco (Project Jupiter), arguing that her campaign’s rhetoric does not always match the financial relationships surrounding her candidacy.
“Deb Haaland cannot attack Gregg Hull because some of his supporters also donated to President Trump while quietly accepting money from individuals and networks that have done exactly the same thing,” noted Martinez. “She cannot condemn corporate influence on one day and then welcome politically convenient support connected to major corporations the next.”
“This election should be about who can actually answer the difficult questions facing New Mexico — jobs, water, crime, education and economic development. Gregg Hull is willing to debate those issues directly. Deb Haaland should do the same.”
